Design
I received the Sea Salt Blue colourway with TTC Crescent Switches. The hues are pleasing to the eye and I found the symbols easy to read.
This keyboard feels good in the hands; it’s hefty enough to give it a premium sense without feeling heavy. The frame is plastic but there’s very little flex and the construction feels top-notch.
AULA F75 has 4 silicone feet to prevent sliding. There are also silicone pads on both levels of the double-elevation risers – this keyboard is put together extremely well considering its budget asking price.
The EPOMAKER x AULA F75 keyboard offers a sleek 75% layout that maximizes space efficiency without compromising functionality. Its innovative leaf-spring gasket structure provides a typing experience that perfectly balances flexibility and firmness, ensuring comfort during prolonged use while maintaining consistent and responsive keystrokes.
Crafted with acoustic mastery in mind, the F75 incorporates a five-layer internal design, including Poron foam, IXPE switch pad, PET sound enhancement pad, and a bottom silicone pad. This sophisticated construction minimizes typing noise and resonance, creating a tranquil and focused typing environment.
Under the hood, the precision-engineered 1.2mm PCB guarantees accurate and stable keystrokes, while the pre-lubricated mechanical switches offer a seamless and smooth actuation right from the start. With three-way connectivity options (Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, and wired USB) and a large 4000mAh battery, the F75 adapts to various scenarios, ensuring a reliable and versatile user experience.
Adding a layer of convenience, the integrated multimedia control knob allows you to easily adjust or mute the volume. The full-key hot-swappable sockets enable seamless switch replacements, catering to individual preferences for gaming, typing, or creative endeavours.
Refined keystrokes are achieved with finely calibrated stabilizers that enhance stability and reduce key wobble. The Cherry-profile double-shot PBT keycaps not only contribute to durability but also offer a stylish design that stands the test of time.
Connectivity Modes
EPOMAKER x AULA F75 has 3 connection options: USB, Bluetooth and 2.4G wireless. You can easily switch between modes via the switch on the back of the keyboard. If you want to connect via 2.4G wireless you’ll need to plug in the USB dongle that can be found stored at at the back of the keyboard, next to the connection select switch.
I found that all 3 connectivity options worked well and the 2.4G wireless mode is very speedy and is even suitable for intense online gaming.
Customization, Remapping and Macros
The AULA F75 software gives you a lot more control over the keyboard. You can remap any or all of the keys, create macros and control the RGB lighting. Speaking of RGB, this keyboard has a cool feature that changes keys with the rhythm of the system audio. There are 10 different styles you can choose from and it’s fun to see the lights flashing in time with your music or videos.
EPOMAKER X AULA F75 RGB
The AULA F75 has vibrant 16.8 million colour RGB illumination, customizable to suit your mood and preferences. The RGB on this keyboard has smoother transitions and colour blending than some of the other budget keyboards I’ve tested.
Switches and Performance
Typing on the EPOMAKER X AULA F75 feels wonderful. Its smooth stabilizers, rugged PBT keycaps and gasket-mounted plate are a treat for the fingers. The finish on these keycaps is silky smooth, making it easy for your fingers to glide over them.
I find the resistance on the pre-lubricated TTC Crescent Switches a little bit on the light side causing some accidental key presses and typos. Having said that, I could easily swap out these switches for a different set that better suits my personal preference. That’s the beauty of these hot-swappable keyboards – there’s no technical skills required to give them a makeover.
When it comes to sound, the F75 is a delight. The five-layer sound and shock-absorbing internals work great. There’s enough give when the keys bottom out to make typing comfortable but not so much that it feels sloppy.
Verdict
When all is said and done, for just $69 it’s hard to find fault with the EPOMAKER X AULA F75. Several colourways, hot-swappable switches, double-shot PBT keycaps, 3 connection modes and even RGB lights that flash in time with your audio are just some of the great things about this budget beast. Add to that a solid battery life and its excellent overall build quality and you’ve got one heck of a good deal. Recommended.
