Design

The TO-U6+ are really small and they fit quite deep in my ears. This has both good and bad points. The good: they’re inconspicuous, unobtrusive and comfortable. The bad: it’s quite difficult to readjust the earbuds without accidentally touching the controls.

In terms of battery life, you can expect a very respectable 8 hours from the earbuds and a total of up to 24 hours including the charging case. There’s fast-charging support too: a 15-minute charge will give you 1 hour of music playback.

Touch controls

The touch controls are fairly standard and the buttons feel responsive. Unfortunately, there’s no onboard volume control so you will need to pick up your phone if you want to change the volume; alternatively, you can use the voice assistant but that’s rather awkward and slow.

The charging case is tall but slim, so it’s easy to slip into pockets. It can support larger third-party eartips which is a great value-add for me. A USB-C port for charging is situated on the bottom of the case but the TO-U6+ also supports wireless charging.

On the back of the case, there’s a small pairing/reset button and there’s a single LED on the bottom, next to the USB port. The overall build quality of the earbuds and case feels great, as I would expect with an Edifier product.

Calls, Video and Game Performance

Making calls with the TO-U6+ is a pleasurable experience because the microphone quality is outstanding, especially for a stemless design. My voice comes through loud and clear with very little compression or artefacts.

Gaming is good with only minimal latency even in fast-paced shooter games. Video performance is also really good and I haven’t noticed any sync issues between video and audio while watching movies or YouTube.

Sound

If there’s one area where Edifier consistently performs, it’s audio quality. The TO-U6+ has a balanced sound signature with a moderate but fun amount of bass and smooth highs. In terms of pure loudness, the TO-U6+ is louder than the average TWS earbuds.

TO-U6+ has a slightly boosted bass with a pleasant tone and ample punch. It’s a full-bodied bass with a good amount of depth. The mid-bass has some nice kick to it but doesn’t get in the way of the mids or highs. The sub-bass doesn’t need much encouragement to come to life and delivers some nice deep rumble.

Vocals and midrange instruments are relatively forward but still feel spacious enough. There’s a fullness to the mids but the overall clarity is still crisp and tidy. You won’t need to worry about sibilance or sharpness as the midrange is warm and the upper mids are vibrant without being shouty.

The treble is animated and lively. Although it doesn’t exactly sparkle, there’s enough life in the highs to infuse the music with energy and detail. There are signs of stridency if you turn the volume up loud but at normal listening levels, the treble is easily manageable.

With its warm but dynamic presentation, the TO-U6+ should satisfy listeners who are looking for a full-bodied but detailed sound with fairly forward mids.

Verdict

The Edifier TO-U6+ is another solid edition to Edifier’s growing TWS range. While they’re a bit light on features, they have good sound, and battery life and are really small and comfy. The wireless charging support is a welcome addition plus the IP55 means you don’t need to worry about sweat and rain.

Thanks for the review – but why would I spend $30 more when I can buy the TWS1 Pro’s which have great sound, onboard volume, and better water resistance?
