Final DX6000: Open-Back Flagship Launches with Revolutionary Magnesium Driver

DX6000 news featured

Final has officially unveiled the DX6000, the debut model in its brand-new DX Series of open-back headphones. Marking a bold new direction for the Japanese brand, the DX6000 has been developed from scratch with the aim of delivering an uncompromising, speaker-like sound that’s both transparent and emotionally engaging.

The DX6000 will be available starting April 28th, with a retail price of £1,899 / €1,999 / $1,999, from selected audio retailers.

A Fresh Sonic Philosophy

At the heart of the DX6000 is an all-new large dynamic driver, boasting an ultra-light magnesium dome diaphragm. Known for its excellent rigidity and acoustically neutral properties, magnesium helps the DX6000 achieve low distortion and lightning-fast transients. Final has overcome the material’s manufacturing challenges through a specialised oxidation treatment and edge-folding process, balancing sonic finesse with durability.

Supporting the diaphragm is a seamless silicone foam surround, free from adhesives. This proprietary design ensures a perfect piston-like motion, contributing to a sound that is rich, spatially accurate, and highly detailed across the frequency range.

Precision Engineering Inside and Out

Rather than relying on conventional soldered joints, Final employs an air-wired aluminium voice coil treated with trace elements to boost conductivity. This approach reduces unwanted resonances and preserves signal purity.

The headphone’s internal acoustic network is tuned to deliver an accurate and smooth treble response without resorting to a traditional crossover. Thanks to the driver’s exceptionally low resonant frequency, the DX6000 doesn’t require a closed-back enclosure to generate deep bass. Instead, the fully open-back structure allows the low-end to breathe naturally, creating an immersive, tactile listening sensation.

Built for Comfort and Reference Listening

Despite its premium construction, the DX6000 weighs just 363 grams (excluding the cable), with a chassis designed for long listening sessions. Each unit comes with a 3m OFC balanced XLR cable for clean, high-fidelity signal transmission.

Key specs include:

  • Sensitivity: 83dB/mW
  • Impedance: 47Ω
  • Weight: 363g (without cable)
  • Cable: 3m OFC, balanced XLR

Every DX6000 is meticulously assembled and acoustically matched by hand on a dedicated production line in Japan.

A New Tier in Final’s Line-Up

Positioned between Final’s Sonorous and D8000 series, the DX6000 signifies both a new price bracket and a fresh design ethos for the brand. With its bold engineering choices and refined aesthetic, it showcases Final’s commitment to innovation without compromise.
