Sound

Melody’s name is fitting because it strays away from the usual Harman target sound signature we’re familiar with. It has an elevated mid-bass that gives the lows warmth, body and a melodic character. There’s still plenty of sub-bass impact too and there’s rumble when called upon.
The lower midrange inherits some warmth from the bass, giving it a natural thickness. But thanks to the speed of the planar driver, there’s no smearing or muddiness. Vocals are clear and upfront and midrange instruments have good texture and timbre.
The treble is zesty but not harsh. There’s no sibilance unless it’s already present in the original recording. The detail retrieval is above average and the treble is precise, resulting in an organized soundstage and good imaging.

Verdict
The Kiwi Ears Melody stands out in its price range for its high-fidelity yet fun sound signature. It has full-bodied bass and midrange and a zesty but smooth treble. Overall, this IEM offers fantastic value and gets our recommended award.
