Apos Audio Is Launching A New Headphone

Apos Audio Caspian announcement featured

Apos Audio is launching a brand new open-back high-end headphone in August.

The headphone, named Caspian, is hand-made from premium but sustainable materials. Caspian was made In collaboration with Sandu Vitalie from Soundnews and Valentin Kazanzhi of famed Kennerton Audio making it a genuine international project spanning multiple countries.

A Fun, Classy Headphone

Caspian was designed with fun and musicality in mind rather than the linear, dry audiophile tuning that dominates the high-end headphone market. The Caspian headphone features a large 50mm driver and all-natural (and non-endangered) oak ear cups. The wood was chosen for its durability and acoustic properties and is sourced from the foothills of the Caucasus mountains. Each set of these ear cups is hand-milled from a single piece of wood for maximum acoustic and visual symmetry.

Furthermore, the oval-shaped earpads are made from memory foam and wrapped in hand-stitched sheepskin for a truly luxurious, plush look and feel. To ensure durability and longevity, the headband and yoke are made from anodized black stainless steel and covered with memory foam and hand-stitched leather.

The headphone’s design is intended to convey style and durability and I think they really nailed it in that regard. It looks to be very strong while at the same time avoiding unnecessary weight. Stylish open grilles showing the Apos “A” protect the graphene-coated 50mm drivers inside while an acoustically transparent cloth protects the internals from dust without colouring the sound.

These headphones are very efficient, meaning they do not need an amplifier and can be used straight from your phone, tablet or laptop. To make it even sweeter, included with the Caspian is an elegant leather carrying bag. The bag looks awesome and will be a convenient, safe and stylish way to carry or store your headphones.

In terms of sound, the Caspian was designed primarily for fun, with elevated but controlled bass that’s punchy but never muddy. Accompanying the bass is a full-bodied midrange that’s lively and forward. To create its airy, sparkling high frequencies, Caspian has a series of gentle dips designed to avoid fatigue while still delivering a lively and sparkly treble.

The Apos Audio Caspian certainly looks very promising. Head over to the Apos Caspian Headphone page for more information and sign up to get notified when the sale goes live. I will be reviewing the Caspian too, once it is available so stay tuned for this exciting release!
